Ocean2k is a PAGES working group

The Ocean2k goal is to place marine climate changes of the past century within the context of the previous two millennia
The Ocean2k goal is to place marine climate changes of the past century within the context of the previous two millennia
We work on compilation and synthesis of publicly available, peer-reviewed paleoclimate data, analysis of climate simulations, interpretation of climate processes, and uncertainty analysis
We employ a distributed leadership model, designed to encourage respect, inclusivity, communication
Trust and reciprocity are essential to the O2k community: climate science implies inter-generationality; it has to inspire generations to come
We focus on discussion of collaborative proposals (team, volunteer work) and use of O2k open communication channels and tools
Let’s facilitate a community-driven progress. In this regard, individual conducts are not encouraged, because "the more the ego, the lesser the knowledge, and vice-versa" (Albert Einstein)
Polar ice domes, mountain glaciers, stalagmites, tree rings, corals, lake and marine sediments represent an invaluable library of past climate and enable study of interactions between environment and history of recent and ancient civilisations
